aie - audience and consumer insights project
For this project, we were tasked with developing a compelling series pitch rooted in in-depth market research on Spanish viewership trends across both linear and nonlinear television. Our goal was to create a show concept that aligned with current audience preferences while accounting for the shifting dynamics of TV consumption in Spain. To ensure our pitch was supported by data-driven insights, we leveraged tools like Barómetro OTT and Social Intelligence to analyze key metrics, including audience demographics, content preferences, and the evolving balance between streaming and traditional TV. These tools provided valuable insights into genre performance, the influence of digital platforms on viewer behavior, and broader trends in Spanish media consumption. By integrating this research, we developed a series of concepts designed to meet the expectations of today’s Spanish audience, maximizing its potential for success in a competitive entertainment landscape.
challenge
One of the biggest challenges of this project was striking the right balance between creativity and data-driven decision-making. While developing an engaging and original series concept, we had to ensure every element—from genre selection to audience targeting—was backed by thorough research using tools like Teleformat, LinkTV, and Barómetro OTT. Analyzing audience demographics, content consumption trends, and broadcaster strategies required navigating complex datasets and translating raw insights into actionable creative choices. Additionally, integrating AI-driven personalization into the storytelling presented both an innovative opportunity and a technical challenge, as we had to conceptualize how dynamic narratives could adapt to viewer engagement. Crafting a compelling pitch also demanded strong storytelling skills, not just within the series itself but in how we presented our findings to potential buyers. Ultimately, this project reinforced the importance of data-informed creativity, bridging market analysis with engaging storytelling to develop a concept with real industry potential.
process
Our creative process began with an open brainstorming session where we leveraged our own preferences, creativity, and experiences to develop a unique show concept that would genuinely resonate with our target audience. We started by reflecting on the types of series that captivated us and analyzing what made them engaging—whether it was compelling character dynamics, high-stakes storytelling, or innovative narrative structures. To ensure our idea was not just personally appealing but also marketable, we conducted casual interviews and informal discussions with peers and individuals within our target demographic, gathering firsthand insights into their viewing habits, content preferences, and expectations from a modern sci-fi drama. Alongside these qualitative insights, we meticulously studied audience and consumer research examining key trends in genre performance, engagement metrics, and streaming behaviors. By comparing our findings to reference shows such as Elite and Black Mirror, we identified storytelling elements that resonated most with our audience and tailored our concept accordingly. This iterative process allowed us to blend our creative instincts with data-backed decisions, ensuring our series not only felt fresh and compelling but also aligned with market demands and audience expectations.
